Agricultural machinery is a large group of self-propelled, mounted, and trailed mechanisms, devices, and units. Their purpose is soil cultivation, crop care, and harvesting. Agricultural machinery plays a crucial role in modern agriculture. The existence of the agricultural sector is unthinkable without it.   • For sowing. Sowing is performed by tractors with special trailed equipment.
  • Crop treatment. A very important stage that affects yield. For hilling, irrigation, fertilization, weed and pest control, special mechanisms are used, which are operated by tractors;
  • Harvesting. The harvest is collected by combines or tractors with trailed devices designed for harvesting specific crops;
  • Post-harvest work. Performed by tractors with special mechanisms.

Large farming enterprises use various machinery for growing specific crops. Smaller farmers prefer universal wheeled tractors or mini-tractors with a minimal set of agricultural machinery. In both cases, it is possible to obtain good yields regardless of conditions.

Types of Agricultural Machinery

Agricultural machinery includes self-propelled machines, units, and equipment for performing agricultural work.

The following types are distinguished:

  1. Tractors and mini-tractors. A universal self-propelled machine for working with mounted and trailed equipment. Wheeled and crawler tractors are most commonly used.
  2. Soil cultivation mechanisms. Plows (for plowing the land), cultivators (for loosening and destroying weeds), harrows (for leveling the soil, destroying weeds, and removing the crust that impedes moisture exchange).
  3. Sowing equipment. Seeders, hoppers, containers. The main purpose is the distribution of seed material in the soil.
  4. Mechanisms for crop care. Irrigation systems, thinners, fertilizer spreaders, treaters, etc.;
  5. Harvesting machinery. Combines, mowers, diggers, mounted and trailed devices for harvesting various crops.

This is only a small part of the agricultural machinery necessary for obtaining good yields. Today, it is hard to imagine a farm without combines, tractors, and other machines for field work. High-tech mechanisms help fight for the harvest, save time, allow mechanization of most processes, and increase labor productivity. But to achieve this, one needs to know how to choose the necessary agricultural machinery correctly.

How to Choose Agricultural Machinery

Properly selected equipment increases productivity and efficiency. Therefore, choosing agricultural machinery for a farm or individual household requires expertise. For this, there are selection criteria:

  • Purpose. What tasks need to be performed;
  • Size of the farm. Larger farming enterprises require more powerful machinery, while smaller ones may only need a mini-tractor;
